Julebrevet (The Christmas Letter)

Produced by Samovarteateret (2025)
Dear audience
We can't believe it's already been a year since we gathered to experience "En julefortelling" on the stage. By bringing the family together to share experiences at the theatre, our wish is to break the winter darkness and create a space for a special family activity.
This year we present "The Christmas Letter (Julebrevet)", a tale about hope and love, about the cost of living, deficit, and abundance. The story is from the Swedish classic "The Tale of Karl-Bertil Jonsson's Christmas Eve", written by Tage Danielsson in 1964. With a distinctive, warm and humorous tone, Danielsson tells a story about social criticism and humanism, about seeing each other and about the joy of sharing.
Advent and christmas is the time for traditions and togetherness, warmth and happiness. But it is also a season filled with expectations and social differences, stress and loneliness. Christmas is minus degrees, sitting by the fire, stress, relaxation, ends and new beginnings. Christmas is multifaceted and full of contrasts. We want to show these nuances in this years play "The Christmas Letter". On stage we have Adam Frøseth and Annelise Sneve Steinbakk, together with Nikolay Shchetnev and children from Sør-Varanger kulturskole: The Samovar Kids group 1B and 2. On piano, we have Katharina Bartsch.
Take a break from the christmas rush with us at Samovarteateret. Welcome to theatre, song and the good atmosphere in "The Christmas Letter"
Warm regards and wishes for a happy holiday
From all of us at Samovarteateret
