Samovarteateret explores different perceptions, histories and experiences connected to water. The project had its first work in progress viewing during the Barents Spektakel festival in 2024, and our aim is a bigger performance in 2027

Work in progress viewing 2: Flow State

"Flow State" is a work in progress viewing about finding the balance in our daily life, based on social psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's Flow-theory:

"When a person is fully involved, focused, and absorbed, a seamless sense of flow can arise, where one action follows naturally from the next. This state occurs when there is a balance between the challenges one faces and the skills one possesses" (Paraphrased).

Through choreography, movement, and everyday routines, the performers explore different strategies for achieving the famous flow state. On stage, they investigate whether there is a formula for creating this flow state through the physical, and whether it can be transferred to an audience.

On stage: Runa Sætervoll, Sara Maria Lindbach, Nikolay Shchetnev
Concept and choreography: Per Magnus Barlaug and Runa Sætervoll
Outside eye: Bente S. Andersen

Work in progress viewing 1: WATER

Samovarteateret has often gained inspiration and themes for our shows from our own region. It can be an event, a lived life or something that occurs in the meeting between people. The growing unrest in the world has led to Samovarteateret wanting to focus on our basic human needs.

Water surrounds us in the womb, and every day of our lives we rely on consuming enough of this substance. At the same time, climate change and the rising temperature mean that water imbalance affects the world more and more. Here, up north, the water temperature rises twice as fast. The permafrost is melting, snow and ice behaves in a completely different way than before.

From a scenic perspective, we at the theatre want to explore perceptions, histories and experiences connected to WATER.
