Delfinen (The Dolphin)

Produced by Samovarteateret (2025)
Welcome to a experience-based play for the whole family. In Delfinen (The Dolphin) we follow a woman's meeting with a baby dolphin on the run. Both carry sorrow and longing, and find comfort in each other's company. With the help of play and fantasy they learn to understand and support each other. The play combines humor, magic and emotional depth, and has been praised for its ability to move both children and adults.
What does it mean to be lonely? Social rejection can be felt differently throughout life's different phases. Children, adults and elderly people alike can feel lonely; in a busy kindergarten, during a hectic worklife, or in the quiet everyday life. The Dolphin is a poetic and playful journey into the human need for belonging. A play that tugs at the hearstrings - and reminds us how deeply we need each other.
Delfinen (The Dolphin) is The Samovar Theatre's rendition of a play with the same name, written by Gunilla Linn Persson. Persson's original version was first made by Suzanne Osten in Stockholm in 1992. With its unique blend of fantasy and reality, as well as its focus on the inner life and emotional conflicts, The Dolphin has been seen as an important work among Nordic theatre for children and young adults. The play appeals to both children and adults, and invites reflection on identity, belonging and human relationships.
Suitable for children aged 4 - 100, and everyone who wants a break from the digitalized everyday life
